To keep your clothes perfect and your washer clean, here are some simple tips you can follow to keep your washing machine spotless, in good condition and to keep your clothes performing well.
1- Remove the stains
Rubbing hard on a stain while cleaning it is a big mistake because rubbing some tissues can weaken them. It is always better to leave the stains to soak and rub gently later.
2- Clothing classification
Clothes should be sorted according to colour and fabric. For instance, wool needs to be washed separately as it requires a softer cycle, plus you should never wash towels and clothes together.
3- Closed zippers
To avoid damaging other clothes you must always ensure that the zips are closed. On the contrary, it is recommended that buttons are buttoned for cleaning.
Don’t wash your stretch fabric clothes in the washer. They are better washed by hand.
When you have small holes found in your clothes, it may be caused by bra attachments. Don’t wash them thoroughly with all of your clothes unless they are in a separate bag.
Never use towel softener because it loses the ability to absorb water and fibers are weakened.
7- Excess of detergent
If you use too much soap, the clothes may not wash properly, and stains may remain. If that happens then you will have to wash it all again.
8- Don’t wash too much at once
Charging the washer to maximum capacity doesn’t enable a proper cleaning and you might end up breaking the machine.
9- Pillow fills
To make them perfect you will have to wash them twice, the second time without any soap since in this material the soap is not rinsed with only one wash.
10- Clean your washer
However, you should put the washing machine on empty at least once a year, just with hot water and a small amount of vinegar.
This will help to clean all the small places of difficult access except for the detergent container that you will have to clean separately. When this wash is finished, leave the door open to dry before next use. Also make sure you check the door rubber for mold and mildew.
